Free time tracking, no sign-up

Open the app and start working. No account, no email address, no credit card, no trial clock counting down to a paywall. The free option is the whole product, stored in your own browser.

What "free" means here

Free tools usually mean one of three things: a trial that expires, a crippled tier that blocks the thing you actually need, or a product that pays for itself by doing something with your data. This is none of those. Choosing This Device stores your clients, schedules, hours, expenses, receipts, invoices, and payments in your browser's own database. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere for it to go — you never made an account.

There is no client limit, no invoice cap, no watermark on the PDFs, and no feature held back to force an upgrade. The paid option exists for one reason only, and it isn't features: it moves your data onto a server so you can reach it from more than one device.

Everything included at zero cost

  • Recurring work schedules per client, with start times, durations, and effective dates
  • Time and expenses on a month or week calendar, color-coded per client
  • Receipt attachments — images and PDFs — that carry through onto invoices
  • Branded invoices with your logo and colors, downloadable as PDFs
  • Payment recording with unpaid, sent, paid, and voided status
  • Live earnings on the home dashboard, and set-asides toward taxes and goals
  • A storage meter showing how much of your browser's quota you've used

Try it before you type anything real

One click loads demo data — a few clients, schedules, entries, and invoices — so you can see how the pieces fit before committing your own figures. Clear it out when you're ready to start properly.

The honest trade-off

Local data lives in one browser on one device. That is the deal that makes it free and instant, and it has real consequences worth knowing up front: clear your browser storage and it's gone, and it will not follow you to a new laptop or appear on your phone. If your working life spans several devices, this isn't the right choice for you.

Two things follow from this. Export or back up periodically if the data matters. And if you decide you want it on a server later, you can switch from System Settings at any time and bring your local data with you — starting free doesn't cost you anything down the line.

Privacy, briefly

With local storage your rates, clients, and invoices never leave your device. That's a real benefit, but it isn't the headline reason to pick this option — free and instant is. Treat privacy as a pleasant consequence of where the data happens to sit.
